XT2 was the first specific client for MtpChat. It was coded in C with X11 and runs on all unices.

Basically, every telnet works to connect and talk on this server but the xt2 added some extra features like name completion, white board, history, auto connect and lot of more.

Lot of other clients is now available on all OS and in all language as you can see here.
